Mathletes Ireland Challenge
Congratulations to Aodhán Ó Hanrahan in 5th class who was one of four qualifiers from the Connacht Live Finals who travelled to Dublin City University on Saturday 2nd May to take part on the All Ireland Live Finals of the Mathletes Ireland Challenge.
Mathletes is a free tournament to transform how we learn and teach maths in Ireland with Khan Academy, the global leader in free online learning. Since January pupils in 4th 5th and 6th classes have been taking part in the online mathletes challenge and on Saturday it was announced that St Joseph’s NS have achieved not only 1st place in Galway, but also 1st place in Connacht and 7th place in Ireland. There were thousands of primary school children taking part in the challenge, many of them in much bigger schools than St Joseph’s, so this is an incredible achievement for all our young mathematicians and a testament to the work they put in on the online learning maths challenges in the past few months.
We are very proud of Aodhán who represented our school so impressively in DCU on Saturday 2nd May. Well done Aodhán!
